Bus punctuality report: 28 April - 4 May 2024
Summary:
Latest punctuality data shows more buses are on time on the Bee Network. This week, 74.6% of Bee Network buses were on time, compared to 73.4% last week.
About the data:
On 24 March 2024, Bee Network services began operating in Oldham, Rochdale and parts of Bury, Salford and North Manchester. This involved changes affecting numerous bus routes, vehicles and depots and was a highly complex process. This resulted in a number of short term issues associated with driver availability, largely confined to one depot. While the majority of buses on affected routes were able to run, we have worked closely with the operators to resolve any issues and limit the impact on passengers. Recent performance has been impacted by localised highway delays (as detailed in the below pie chart).
Timetable changes have taken place during April which will help to improve bus punctuality and reliability on services, as well as providing extra capacity. In collaboration with Go North West, these changes include the introduction of 20 additional buses across the Tranche 1 area, including on the popular V1 and V2 Busway services.
We remain focused on delivering continuous improvement across all Bee Network services.
The Bee Network Punctuality charts have three columns showing the percentage of bus services running ‘on time’ each day in a 7-day period.
It shows:
- Pre-Bee Network punctuality: Results for the same period in 2023, before those bus services joined the Bee Network.
- Bee Network punctuality: Results for current Bee Network services.
- Non-Bee Network punctuality: Results for buses in Greater Manchester that are not yet part of the Bee Network.
This allows you to compare past and present performance. The Senior Traffic Commissioner (responsible for licensing and regulating bus services) classes services running between one minute early and five minutes late as ‘on time’. This allows for road traffic conditions which can affect bus running times.
