If you intend to work in the highway and you are not a statutory undertaker you must have consent from the local authority. They can grant you a Street Works Licence sometimes referred as a Section 50 New Roads and Street Works Licence. Furthermore, all organisations who plan to undertake works using temporary traffic signals or prohibiting traffic such as a ‘road closure’ must have this approved by the authority.
