Projects

Chorlton Cycleway

We’re working on a range of projects to make travelling around Greater Manchester easier, more accessible and more reliable.

Funding for some of our projects has been provided through the government’s City Region Sustainable Transport Settlement (CRSTS), which saw Greater Manchester awarded £1.07bn to help deliver the Bee Network.

Find out what we're getting up to:

Bury Interchange

We're planning an overhaul of Bury Interchange, in partnership with Bury Council and Greater Manchester Combined Authority. The plans will deliver a modern, integrated transport hub joining up bus, tram and active travel as part of the Bee Network with significantly improved passenger facilities.

This picture shows a computer-generated image of the proposed Golborne Train Station. The main station entrance and station building are located on the left-hand side of the image. The station name of Golborne is shown in a yellow box with black text on the side of the building. There are two sets of stairs and lift shafts illustrating access to the platforms with a bridge providing connections across the railway line. Two platforms are shown on either side of the railway line.

A new rail station for Golborne

We're working with Wigan Council and Greater Manchester Combined Authority on plans for a new rail station at Golborne in Wigan.

Improving journeys

We’re working hard to make bus routes better in Greater Manchester, to speed up journeys, stop buses getting caught in traffic and make it easier for people catch the bus.

Stockport Interchange

We worked with Stockport Council and the Greater Manchester Combined Authority on a multi-million pound transformation of Stockport's bus station into a modern transport interchange.

Innovation projects

We're always looking for innovative ways to address challenges that we face in transport.

Metrolink Capacity Improvement Programme

The Metrolink Capacity Improvement Programme was created to bring several improvements to our tram network, from new trams to improved parking.

Highways Maintenance Funding: Network North

The government has reallocated some of the HS2 funding for local authorities to spend on maintenance of highways.
