Breastfeeding on public transport

Passengers who wish to breastfeed their child are welcome to do so on public transport in Greater Manchester.

This includes at stops, stations and interchanges across the network.
There are also benches across the network where you can feed your child too.

Breastfeeding is your legal right

It is illegal for anyone to ask a breastfeeding woman to stop breastfeeding or to leave a public place.

If you are made to feel uncomfortable, or experience a problem while travelling on any of our services, please speak to a member of our staff or use a help point.

Asking for a seat to breastfeed

It is important that you feel comfortable feeding your child on public transport and across our Bee Network, if you're breastfeeding or bottle feeding.

If you need a seat to breastfeed, priority seating is available on buses and trams if you need more space when feeding your baby.

‘Please offer me a seat’ badges

We have ‘please offer me a seat’ badges available to make your journey more comfortable.

The badge is designed for pregnant and disabled passengers, providing a gentle reminder to fellow travellers to offer their seat.
